Brian McClair’s Premier League Picks
Throughout the season, Manchester United and Celtic legend Brian McClair will be giving his predictions for every Premier League game.
In four seasons at Celtic, McClair made 471 appearances in all competitions and scored 127 goals, securing the Scottish Premier League and Scottish FA Cup while finishing as top-scorer for the Hoops on four occasions.
His prolific goalscoring record quickly attracted the attention of clubs south of the border and in 1987, McClair became Alex Ferguson’s first signing at Manchester United, going on to win four Premier League titles, two FA Cups and the European Cup Winners’ Cup in his 11 years at Old Trafford.

Tottenham Vs Man City, Wednesday 7.30pm
Tottenham will be looking to make it four Premier League wins on the bounce when they host Manchester City on Wednesday night.
Victories over Brentford, Manchester United and Ipswich have turned Spurs’ season around and having already defeated the Cityzens in league and cup so-far this season, they could also complete the hat-trick.
Pep Guardiola’s men were beaten again on Sunday, when they went down 2-0 at home to Liverpool for their second Premier League defeat in three games.
Twenty points behind leaders Liverpool, City will be looking to guarantee Champions League football next season, but against a rejuvenated Spurs outfit, this could be a tough challenge.
Brian says: “City haven’t won on any of their last three visits to London.
“After a long period out injured, Brennan Johnson returned at Ipswich and scored his eighth and ninth goals of the season, and he’s a player that was rarely mentioned in this extensive injury list that Tottenham have had.
“Spurs have already beaten Manchester United three times and City twice this season in all competitions, and no team has beaten both sides three times in the same campaign, but maybe this could be the one.”
Brian McClair’s Panel Pick 1: Tottenham 2-1 Man City- 10.00 with Betovo
Liverpool Vs Newcastle, Wednesday, 8.15pm
Premier League champions-elect, Liverpool face Newcastle on Wednesday night, in a precursor to next month’s EFL Cup final.
The Reds’ lead stretched into the double figures when they overcame Manchester City 2-0 on Sunday, a couple of hours after the Magpies’ absorbing 4-3 win over Nottingham Forest, and they are now odds-on for another Premier League title.
Since their loss to Nottingham Forest back in September, Arne Slot’s side have avoided defeat in each of their 17 home games, scoring at least two goals in all of them.
Liverpool have now won five-straight home games in all competitions, which doesn’t bode well for the Magpies, who have failed to win any of their last 16 league matches against Liverpool, while their last victory in this top-flight fixture on Merseyside came back in 1994.
Brian says: “Liverpool look certain to be champions now after beating Manchester City and sit 11 points clear at the top.
“Much of the credit for this can go to Mo Salah, who has been in brilliant form this season with 25 goals and 16 assists.
“Liverpool are unbeaten in their last 28 games against Newcastle in all competitions at Anfield and I can’t see past the home team here.”
Brian McClair’s Panel Pick 2: Liverpool 3-1 Newcastle – 8.50 with Betovo
